It was another Sunday calling for cloudy weather as we headed towards Ringwood, New Jersey Botanical Garden for a birthday session. Luckily, there was no way the sun was going to hide on this little one. With her vibrant flower crown, contagious smile, and adorable bunny eared cake, Mother Nature knew this birthday girl deserved a bright, beautiful day.
When we first photographed Lilly, she was still growing inside her Mom's belly. Her family couldn’t wait to meet her and on July 31st, she arrived. That following December, we met Lilly for the first time as we photographed her family for the holidays. She was still so little and slept most of the time, but her wide eye expression was already something to remember. Now here we are, 7 months later, and Lilly is turning 1 years old.
During her birthday session, Lilly was so patient with her cake. She sat in her little chair as she giggled and laughed. But when it came time to do the cake smash, she was barely interested in touching it. She had one taste and said, nope, not for me. At one point, she even kicked it over which was one of the funniest things we’ve seen. Luckily, that is what big brothers are for. Tristian loved trying to help his baby sister smash her cake but was even more ecstatic once he was able to do it himself. Lilly was instead more interested in sitting in the grass, playing with flowers, standing while holding her chair, and letting Mom and Dad help her walk. She was still cautious about letting go and walking on her own, but we did hear that she took her first steps by herself recently.
We have loved watching Lilly grow into such a happy, curious, beautiful child. We wish her a happy 1st birthday and can’t wait to continue documenting her life.
